When doubt keeps you awake

You stand by your decisions when you say them out loud. But once the house is quiet, you take them up again. Was it right? Was it enough? Should you have seen it coming?

This site describes evening sessions with the authorised psychologist Frank, for leaders and specialists in Hadsten and the surrounding area. The sessions are offered by djursland-psykologen.dk. The main site is in Danish.

Sessions in English

The conversations can be held in English, both in person in Mørke on Djursland and online. Evening sessions in Mørke are a genuine option: from Hadsten it is a drive of under an hour, and many people find the journey home a useful transition. If you would rather save the travel, online sessions work just as well, and plenty of people combine the two depending on the week.

Two kinds of doubt

In leadership, doubt is often a sign that you take something seriously. Useful doubt asks a question you can act on, and then settles. The other kind asks the same question again and again and never gets an answer it can accept. That second kind is often tied to self-criticism: an inner voice harder on you than you would ever be on a colleague.

The sessions can give you room to notice that voice, understand where it comes from and decide what you want to do with it. They cannot promise that the doubt disappears, but you will have a place where you can understand the pattern instead of only fighting it.

What the sessions can make room for

  • saying your doubt out loud to someone who is not your management team, your board or your family
  • telling apart the decisions worth revisiting from the ones you simply find hard to let go
  • looking at where the demands on yourself come from, and whom they serve
  • practising trust in your own judgement, even when the facts are not final

You do not need a finished explanation. It is fine to start with: "I do not know exactly what it is, but I cannot let it go."

Individual sessions at a fixed time every week, in the evening, with the same psychologist throughout. Everything you say is covered by the psychologist's duty of confidentiality. Questions and answers

Who finds out that I come to sessions?

Nobody. Your doctor is not informed, and neither are the municipality, your partner or spouse, or your workplace. The sessions are private and need no referral, and they are covered by the psychologist's duty of confidentiality.

Can my company pay?

Yes. Many people have the invoice paid by their company or employer, and you can pay yourself as well. See the practical information page on the main site.

Do I have to name my employer?

No. When you sign up, a short description of yourself is enough for judging whether the offer fits. You do not need to say where you work.

Is there a waiting list?

Typically, yes. Capacity is limited, and no start date is promised. Signing up is non-binding.
